Life Skills Training and Development

What is Life Skills Training and Development?

The SALT Foundation can help you work on goals to develop your independence, confidence and everyday life skills so that you can make the most of your life.

We want to help you live as autonomously as possible through the growth of skills such as problem-solving, communication, social, daily activities, critical thinking and more.

Work with us to learn how to face life’s challenges through Life Skills Training and Development.

Why is Life Skills Training and Development important?

Developing life skills enables the growth of independence and confidence.

This can enable you to live a better life, with more of your needs being met by you.

Developing life skills allows you to handle life’s challenges easier.

The SALT Foundation’s verified NDIS Support Worker Specialists would love to assist you in building your independence and living a smooth life where you and your support team meet your needs.

If you have high support needs, you may need Supported Independent Living.

What are some examples of how Life Skills Training and Development can help you?

We’ll you develop your capacity in:

  • Increasing your personal hygiene is an important aspect of developing your wellbeing. A good sense of wellbeing allows you to gain the confidence you deserve to feel.
  • Growing your communication skills allows you to interact with others and verbalise your needs easier so that others can understand you and the support you require.
  • Training in how to use public transport enables you to become more independent to travel where you please.
  • Deciding and solving problems. Our Support Worker Specialists can help you when decisions get tricky and challenging.
  • Keeping your house clean, such as cleaning, doing the laundry, and more!
  • Planning healthy eating through activities like grocery shopping and cooking. Nutrition is very important to live a healthy life.
  • Advocating for your needs and contacting the people and providers who support you. The NDIS and other services can get confusing. Your Support Worker and Support Coordinator can help you get your wishes heard.
  • Learning how to regulate your emotions and handle situations when they become overwhelming.
