HEIDELBERG WEST, VIC – 24 May 2024 – Are you confused and concerned about the proposed changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)? Well, you’re not alone. The SALT Foundation is here to help get the facts straight and answer your burning questions.

Announcing a Free NDIS Webinar to Answer Your Questions About the Reforms

On May 30th at 4:30 pm, we’re hosting a free webinar called “Getting the NDIS Back on Track: Your Questions Answered.” Led by our very own CEO Roger Donnelley and Mental Health Speaker Daniel G. Taylor, this interactive session will dive deep into the proposed “Getting the NDIS Back on Track” bill and what it could mean for NDIS participants, their families, and carers.

“No one in the disability community had anything positive to say about the ‘Getting the NDIS Back on Track’ bill during the recent Department of Social Services webinar,” said Daniel G. Taylor. “That’s why we’re taking matters into our own hands to ensure NDIS participants have a voice and get the answers they need.”

As we wrote last month, the only way the NDIS can be sustainable – one of the aims of the reforms – is to cut costs. Now the Guardian has announced the Australian Government plans to slash $14.4 billion from the NDIS.

The webinar will cover key points from the bill, including:

  • The new framework for NDIS participant plans and budgets
  • Restrictions on how NDIS funding can be spent
  • Ongoing eligibility reviews for NDIS participants
  • Potential benefits and downsides of the proposed changes

“It’s critical that NDIS participants understand how these changes could impact them, both positively and negatively,” said Roger Donnelley, CEO of The SALT Foundation. “This webinar is our way of empowering the disability community to navigate these murky waters.”

Croakey says that NDIS reforms need to prioritise choice and control for disabled people.
